Offered as a specialised pathway at Nuriootpa High, the Allied Health Program is a VET Course designed to support students interested in a range of jobs within the Health Industry. At Stage 1, Cert ll and some Cert lll units will be studied. At Stage 2, the ability to gain Cert lll in both Allied Health Assistance and Health Services Assistance is the goal. Completing Health Services Assistant’s Cert lll will enable you to pursue a pathway to nursing as an enrolled nurse or registered nurse. Completing Cert lll Allied Health Assistant will enable you to choose a number of pathways eg employment as an allied health assistant, undertaking a health traineeship, Cert lV courses such as Allied Health, Nutrition and Dietetics, Nursing, Medical Assisting, Pharmacy Support, Alternative Therapies or Health Administration. Various modules will be studied including OHS, Infection Control, Client Movement and Manual Handling, Basic Medical Terminology, Communication and First Aid. Work placement is a requirement. This gives students an opportunity to gain meaningful experience and/or casual part time or full time employment.
