Inclusive Education Centre (IEC)
Nuriootpa High School is equipped to provide specialised learning for students with high support needs through our Inclusive Education Centre (IEC). The IEC has been designed specifically to suit high needs learners, and includes accessible bathrooms and a dedicated outdoor play space.
Students within the IEC study a curriculum aligned with the Australian Curriculum tailored to individual ability and One Plan goals, and are supported to achieve their SACE (South Australian Certificate of Education) through a modified model in the senior years. By negotiation students are integrated into appropriate mainstream classes.
Students also have the opportunity to participate in a range of sensory activities to support regulation and de-escalation. Activities may include, but are not limited to, fidget toys, drawing/craft, Lego, rocking chair, swing, music or taking a walk.
Nuriootpa High School also offers multiple Special classes, and other models of flexible learning to enable learner success.
