Agriculture

Nuriootpa High School has a vast Agricultural and Horticultural program. The agricultural area of the school is used extensively in the learning and training programs for all students. Students undertake practical work and skill training as part of their learning program at all year levels. The teaching staffs are assisted by experienced farm staff and wine managers.

All students study Agriculture in Year 8 and from 9-12 they are able to follow their passion by selecting semester and full year Agriculture and Horticulture subjects. Units include:

  • Aquaculture
  • Cows Create Careers
  • Vineyard Management and Winemaking
  • Livestock Management – cattle, sheep, poultry, goats and turkey enterprises
  • Animal Studies
  • Agricultural and Horticultural Science
  • Certificate I and II Rural Operations

  • Students also get the opportunity to be involved in extracurricular activities such as the Livestock Club, the Heifer Show and being a member of the Royal Adelaide Show Team. These allow students to develop skills and competencies in advanced management and showing whilst networking within the industry.
